Do work that matters

Our Engineering Managers (Chapter Leads) are hands-on technical leaders, growing their people while being close to the tech and fostering a world-class engineering culture of innovation and curiosity.

In this role, you will lead a team of ten early career engineers (graduates, interns, casual associates), as well as focus on driving the education, training, practices, and policy for one of our core engineering skills. To do this you can:

  • Prioritise the work that will give our early career engineers what they need to be happy, productive, autonomous and help to build on the core skills that they need

  • Have a passion for developing our people not just technically but also for the softer skills required outside of being a great engineer

  • Be responsible for the strategic technology direction for one of our core engineering skills – curating the curriculum of training, and being seen as thought leader on that subject

  • Create a safe and trusted working environment where our graduates can be heard

  • Be an evangelist for engineering principles, practices and standards

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

  • Are life-long learners serving as connectors, empowering leaders facilitating open communication and establishing relationships between individuals and teams, to drive great outcomes.

  • Share and impart their experience in driving software strategies from solution design to delivery

  • Are passionate about establishment of best engineering practices, continuous improvement, change and transformation in the ways of working

  • Have driven cultural, mindset and process changes supporting modern delivery practices

Technical skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

  • Core skills in product and platform engineering, including writing, reviewing, and troubleshooting code in various languages

  • Understanding of microservices architecture and good API design

  • Sound grasp of data integrity, system security, and unit testing

  • Deep knowledge of one or more engineering skill areas

  • A passion and desire for learning new technology

  • A firm grasp of industry wide best-practices for engineering and product teams
