The Financial Crime Compliance team is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the group’s financial crime compliance services. You will be part of the wider Financial Crime Line 2 team which is leading the Group’s approach to managing AML / CTF, Sanctions and Anti-Bribery and Corruption risks and obligations through the provision of policies, frameworks, regulatory engagement, advice, and complex escalations for Business Banking segment.

We have a vacancy available that will form part of our newly created Due Diligence Assessments team to review High Risk Industry Segments. You will be required to forge strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, your role will be to provide services to support the Group in the effective and efficient management of financial crime. This will mean working closely with our customers, stakeholders and colleagues, to review and assess AML programs, transactions, complex customer matters etc.

On any given day, you will

  • Conduct thorough due diligence assessments of clients AML program relating to high-risk industries, ensuring compliance with regulations and group internal policies.
  • Conduct compliance calls with external clients to assess the effectiveness of the AML program.
  • Support the Business bank in reviewing and assessing high risk industry clients, complex structures and offering solutions to mitigate potential risk
  • Design and implement a robust financial crimes risk management framework tailored to high-risk industries including emerging risks.
  • Develop and implement policies and resource documents specific to high risk industry segments.
  • Aid the business and Group support functions in formulating and executing action plans to address identified financial crimes related issues
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across the Group to proactively identify, manage, and mitigate the financial crime risks
  • Support the business in establishing controls, procedures and training necessary to align with the Group’s financial crime policy framework

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Demonstrated experience in assessing AML Program of Casino’s, NBFI, CFD’s, Payment Processors, MSB’s and Cryptocurrencies.
  • Tertiary qualification in business/finance/law or a relevant discipline is preferred
  • Relevant industry certification/accreditation is desirable (ACAMS)
  • Extensive experience in AML / CTF, Sanctions and ABC role (7 years in compliance and preferably in an advisory capacity) as well as In-depth understanding of AML regulations, industry best practices and emerging trends
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to assess corporate structures and identify potential risks
  • Excellent co-ordination and stakeholder management skills with proven experience to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to allow you to present findings including distilling down complex issues into key messages
