Position Highlights:

  • SIGN-ON BONUS: $7,500

  • Location: Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst IL

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, with on-call rotation including weekend coverage and on-call holiday coverage.

What you will need:

  • Successful completion of an EEG degree or certificate allied health program

  • Minimum one year of previous EEG experience or Minimum of two years EEG experience in an acute hospital setting

  • Registration by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists

What you will do:

Under general supervision and according to established procedures, operates electroencephalograph (EEG) machine in order to measure brain wave characteristics for use by physicians in diagnosing brain disorders.  In doing so, reviews patients' medical charts, explains procedures to patients and/or families in order to allay anxieties and elicit cooperation, positions patients for testing and operates equipment. Assists in performing EMG tests as directed.  Performs newborn Hearing Screenings procedures, in accordance with the State of Illinois guidelines. Assists the department manager and lead EEG technologist in coordinating technical training activities, quality assurance improvement programs and other departmental projects. The Registered EEG Technologist serves as a preceptor for EEG trainees and non-registered EEG technicians. Preceptors provide additional clinical training support in the areas of electrode application, patient handling, troubleshooting, artifact elimination and equipment maintenance under the direct supervision of the lead registered technologist.

Record review sessions with registered technologists and interpreting physicians are necessary so non-registered technologists and trainee’s can discuss, evaluate and learn from the test performed.
