As the Regional Director of Sterile Processing for the Eastern submarket, you will advise/support all aspects of reprocessing departments under their leadership, to include Surgical Processing departments (CS/SPD) as well as High Level Disinfection. You will help supervise the overall operations of the SPD (Sterile Process Department) areas. You will be accountable for budgeting, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and related business operations to include revenues, inventory (instrument, scope) management and continuous improvement. In this role you will oversee the support system and serve as an expert of sterilization systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with surgical leadership to develop annual departmental strategic and operational plans.
  • Assists in preparing annual budgets, reviewing staffing requirements and cost effective programs for all services in areas of responsibility.
  • Assures departmental quality standards are achieved and demonstrates accountability for improving services within department.
  • Provides measurement and feedback on improvement of systems and services to management and other internal customers.  Works collaboratively with other team members to determine best practices and institute across the Enterprise.
  • Supervises and mentors the management team that monitors and supervises the day-to-day operations of at each local site.
  • Assures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies, safety programs and customer service programs.
  • Oversees the interface between sterile processing, surgery, and materials as well as other departments within and outside the organization to ensure that supplies and instruments are available as needed to all areas.
  • Plans ahead to ensure that any supplies or instrumentation not routinely available within the department are obtained and ready prior to scheduled surgery cases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Nursing, Business, Logistics or another similar area.
  • Ten years of SPD management level experience in a large hospital may substitute for Bachelor’s Degree requirement.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • Sterile Processing Distribution certification(CRCST)  by IAHCSMM or CBSPD required within 2 years following completion of new hire period.

Work Experience:

  • Five years successful leadership experience in Sterile Processing, Materials Management or Surgical Nursing is required.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
