Overview of Growth Center:

Global Capability Center (GCC) helps Growth centers of Xylem such as AWS, Treatment and Analytics in wide range of activities that include New Product Development, Value Engineering, Sustain Engineering and Software development. We partner with them to anticipate and respond to evolving business needs with innovation in sensing and communications technologies, data analytics and services.

Brief Description/Job Summary: Internal Sales Representative (ISR)

GCC seeks to hire an Internal sales representative who can contribute to the growth of Xylem's India Technology Center and its expansion into disruptive technology and business solutions. The position involves playing a key role in advancing Xylem water treatment technology capabilities. The Internal Sales Representative will focus on Aftermarket sales and service support for mechanical equipment and product-based solutions such as clarifiers, chain & scrappers, Aeration and auxiliary systems, with responsibility for accurate technical design, costing, and proposal preparation. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration with sales, vendors, customers, reps and project teams, serving as a key contributor to project acquisition and execution while building expertise to grow into a senior proposal or SME leadership role.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Need to manage Aftermarket sales inquiries, customer orders, and complaints from large installed base across globe.
  • Proactively maintain an ongoing relationship with USA DTO team (inside sales and outside sales), and possibly with customers and third-party representatives, subject to advancement.
  • Handle all products under Wastewater Treatment Division covering multiple states in USA or export markets.
  • Reviews drawings, BOM and makes recommendations for replacement of necessary parts and offers quotations within established guidelines, including but not limited to, using in-house estimate tools and programs, obtain quotes for made-to-order engineered items when required.
  • Updates quote in Microsoft Dynamics (CRM tool) to keep the data fresh with an aim to aid in forecasting.
  • Proactively looks for opportunities to expand scope.
  • Minimal travel may be necessary with primary focus on own installations, working closely in alignment with third party representatives in the region.
  • Leverage data analytics of our installed base, data mining and developing targeted list of customers based on the product, age of installation.
  • Develop techno-commercial proposals, including scope of work, equipment descriptions, performance guarantees, clarifications, exceptions, and pricing.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs to vendors/OEMs, perform technical and commercial evaluations of offers, and support vendor selection based on cost, compliance, and technical fit.
  • Conduct project risk analyses, compliance reviews, and margin assessments to ensure competitive and reliable solutions.
  • Independently manage engineering deliverables with accountability for planning, scheduling, and timely execution.
  • Interact directly with customers, sales representatives, and project stakeholders to clarify technical queries and support project acquisition.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, product developments, and emerging technologies to strengthen proposal competitiveness.

Must Have:

  • Strong understanding of water & wastewater equipment, sizing, selection, processes, application, and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in sales, aftermarket, proposal, costing, financial evaluation, and margin/pricing calculations.
  • Skilled in analytics with strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with international standards and industry codes.
  • Ability to bridge technical and commercial aspects of projects.
  • Strong capability to review and interpret specifications and prepare technical comments/exceptions.

Good to Have:  

  • Experience with different water treatment technologies and working principles of major equipment especially Circles, chain & scrapper, aeration, biological system etc.
  • Hands-on exposure to erection, commissioning, and troubleshooting of treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, material & industry standards, piping, and instrumentation design integration.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM, SAP, Autodesk 2D design tools.

Qualifications:

  • Fulltime Bachelor/Master degree in Mechanical/ Environmental engineering.
  • 2-5 years of core water and wastewater treatment engineering domain experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sales, after market, application engineering, proposal development, and equipment/system design for water treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of water treatment technologies and technological advancements.
