Begin your nursing journey in OU Health’s trauma line in our Ortho Trauma unit with the trajectory to transfer to the Trauma ICU after completing the RN Residency year! We encourage starting in Ortho Trauma to increase your knowledge of the trauma-specific population while providing you the opportunity to progress to ICU level care. You will become confident as a nurse by learning from the collaborative care team and attending the same education provided to the Trauma ICU nurses. The OU Medicine Nurse Residency Program provides the graduate nurse with resources and rich experiences that will serve as a strong foundation for a successful nursing career. OU Medicine nurse residents receive guidance and support from a primary preceptor and clinical education specialist to successfully bridge the transition from student to professional practice. The program features ongoing structured learning opportunities for residents, a strong social support network, mentoring and preparation to obtain national certification in their chosen specialty area. Candidates must have a current RN license or compact RN license to practice in Oklahoma prior to beginning the program and have less than one year of RN clinical experience to be eligible to enroll in our Nurse Residency Program.

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
Experience: N/A
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
