The Electric Power Division has an exciting opportunity for a Policy Strategy Manager to join our Energy Services team. We are looking for an industry expert in energy markets and utility programs—with proven leadership experience—to help customers solve their challenges through Distributed Generation. The successful candidate will take the lead in evaluating new business opportunities and charting a course for us to execute on those opportunities.
What You Will Do:
Monitor and investigate policies and rules that affect grid power usage and monetization for Caterpillar’s customer base, inclusive of Federal, State, and Power-Pools such as ERCOT, SPP, MISO, etc.
Ideate and develop new Asset Monetization and Energy-as-a-Service business offerings to help our customers succeed based on these changes, leveraging Caterpillar’s unmatched product and service portfolio.
Lead cross-functional collaboration with business partners across the Electric Power Division to bring these new business offerings to market.
A successful candidate will also demonstrate:
Leadership and influence across functional and matrixed teams, culminating in successful business results
Expertise in the power and energy regulatory markets and policy while interpreting their real-world impact
A command of Caterpillar’s product and service portfolio, including our Cat AMP DERMS platform
What You Will Have:
Customer Focus: Working knowledge of energy market dynamics and customer priorities; ability to align Caterpillar’s distributed generation and Energy-as-a-Service solutions with evolving regulatory and operational needs.
Engages with customers to understand how policy changes impact their operations and profitability.
Translates regulatory developments into tailored solutions that deliver measurable customer value.
Proactively identifies opportunities for customers to monetize assets through grid programs and market participation.
Builds trust by demonstrating deep understanding of customer energy challenges and Caterpillar’s ability to solve them.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience with analyzing complex regulatory frameworks and market signals to make informed, strategic decisions that drive new business models.
Evaluates policy changes and grid programs for potential business impact and customer benefit.
Synthesizes data from multiple sources (policy, market trends, technical feasibility) to recommend actionable strategies.
Advises leadership on risk and opportunity trade-offs in emerging energy markets.
Uses structured decision-making approaches to prioritize initiatives that align with Caterpillar’s long-term energy strategy.
Effective Communications: Extensive experience with articulating complex yet clear energy policy and technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executives, customers, and regulatory stakeholders.
Crafts compelling narratives that link regulatory changes to customer opportunities and Caterpillar’s value proposition.
Adapts messaging for technical, commercial, and policy audiences to gain alignment and drive action.
Employs persuasive communication to influence internal and external stakeholders on strategic initiatives.
Maintains clarity and confidence when presenting new business models and monetization strategies.
Strategic Thinking: Extensive experience with anticipating energy market trends and regulatory shifts, positioning Caterpillar for long-term competitiveness in distributed generation and energy services.
Develops strategies that leverage Caterpillar’s product portfolio and platforms (e.g., Cat AMP DERMS) to capitalize on policy-driven opportunities.
Identifies emerging grid programs and monetization pathways to create new revenue streams.
Builds strategic partnerships with utilities, regulators, and industry stakeholders to advance Caterpillar’s market position.
Guides cross-functional teams in aligning near-term actions with long-term energy transition goals.
Value Selling: Working knowledge in how to quantify and communicate the financial and operational benefits of Caterpillar’s distributed generation and energy services offerings in the context of regulatory and market changes.
Demonstrates how Caterpillar solutions enable customers to monetize assets and reduce energy costs.
Uses data-driven insights to articulate ROI and compliance benefits tied to policy changes.
Positions Caterpillar as a trusted advisor in navigating complex energy markets.
Defines and documents value-added activities beyond initial sales, such as ongoing optimization and market participation.
Additional Information
This position will be located in Dallas, TX or Kennett Square, PA.
This position will require up to 30% travel (domestic and international).
Domestic relocation is offered for this position.

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
