ChampionX, has an immediate need for a Senior DeltaV Controls Systems Engineer in Freeport, TX. This position will have flexibility to work remote 2 days of the week.

What You Will Do:
- Provide the day-to-day and after-hours coordination and technical support for the control system equipment and software at the site
- Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of control applications, HMI computers, DCS systems, batch programing, databases and graphics, PLC’s and safety instrumented systems.
- Work on control strategy improvements and batch programing for new product introductions.
- Assists with troubleshooting production problems related to DCS and batch programing.
- Determines root cause of problems in process control, human machine interface or hardware. Then working with stakeholders to effectively resolve the problems.
- Leads Management of Change activities for modifications to the process.
- Coordinates preventative maintenance tasks with production engineer and support groups.
- Coach operators on control strategies and assisting in training efforts for DCS and HMI changes.
- Develops simulations to test code and operator interface graphics.
- Assists with the design and implementation of new hardware and software packages to improve safety, production, and quality of the Freeport Plant.
- Assists in project start-up and commissioning by performing initial checkout of new process control items (for example: loop checks, controller tuning, alarm validation, interlock validation, etc.).
- Maintains plant’s data historian servers (OSl Pl Historian, PI Vision, PI Asset Frame). (Add/delete tags, maintains server, troubleshoot lost data, etc.)
- Familiarize with best practices in process automation and controls system to implement standards across the plants.
- Assist plant project engineers during design, implementation, testing and startup projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in configuration of DCS in manufacturing is required.
- Prior experience in configuration and troubleshooting of DeltaV.
- 3 years minimum of experience with batch programing
- Demonstrated skill in electronic hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of process control fundamentals, including PID loops, process dynamics, and control strategies.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus) and fieldbus systems (e.g., Foundation Fieldbus).
- Immigration sponsorship not offered for this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some experience preferred in chemical manufacturing environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct any issues with PLCs and PI systems.
- Prior experience with Allen Bradley Motor starter, DeltaV Live.
- Prior experience with DCS migration and startup.
- Prior experience in batch programing or sequential function chart.
