IT Portfolio Operations Director

The Portfolio Operations Director is responsible for providing oversight to their respective portfolios working closely with the Digital Solutions Senior Director to ensure a stable, scalable, and high performing portfolio. This role will manage and provide regular communication to the Digital Solutions Senior Director and key stakeholders regarding the health of the portfolio including initiative health, resource issues and intake status The Portfolio Operations Director will manage Program/Project Managers and Scrum Masters within their respective portfolio, ensuring work across the portfolio is being successfully executed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Owns Portfolio Financials, including reporting and reviewing with the Digital Solutions Senior Director. Overall Portfolio Financial reporting will include portfolio investment requests, rolling up financial data for all portfolio products and/or programs/initiatives, and ensure that change requests (CRs) have been identified and proactively brought forth for approval prior to work being executed.  
     
  • Responsible for Portfolio Reporting for both portfolio related products/teams and respective programs/initiatives that fall within the portfolio.  Responsible for driving Portfolio Health, mitigating risks/issues, communicating, and partnering with key leaders to return work to a healthy state when needed.
     
  • Leads Resource Strategy Management Plan, partnering with Platform Director, determining resource need based on prioritized work, ensuring balanced teams, global resource strategies and staffing of initiatives. Ensures active and planned work is updated in our planning system, allowing accurate management of resource capacity and forecasts.
     
  • Partners with Digital Solutions Senior Directors for overall Portfolio and Change Management Communication to Executive Leadership. Coordinates and communicates initiative escalations and change requests to the Digital Solution Senior Directors and Executive Leadership, Platform Directors, and key Portfolio stakeholders for portfolio related activities.
     
  • Responsible for oversight of Program, Project Managers and Scrum Masters within the portfolio, working closely with IT CoE for standards and best practices.  Ensures these roles execute based on the SSDLC and leverage standard practices and templates.
     
  • Responsible for Vendor Resource Management (SOW’s, Contract Renewals) across the portfolio.
     
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Agile or project management certifications (CSM, CSPO, PMI certification) recommended

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

  • Experience leading large programs/portfolios
  • Extensive experience with financial management for large portfolios
  • Experience delivering IT products and services.
  • Strong understanding of IT Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Disciplined Agile, SAFe).
  • Strong executive level, verbal and written communication skills, ability to create effective documents and review them with key project stakeholders and multiple levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing multiple projects/programs of moderate to high risk and complexity
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Experience with direct management of staff.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within multiple levels of the firm.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of personalities.

           

EXPERIENCE

  • 10 + years of project management experience.
  • 5+ years of program management experience.
  • 5+ years of Agile experience.
  • Microsoft Office skills (Project, SharePoint, OneNote).
  • Strong experience leading, scaling, and developing diverse program and project teams.
  • Experience mentoring teams through problem resolution and encouraging staff to share responsibility in problem solving
  • Experience with personnel management. Resolves conflicts timely and beneficially to all concerned.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to impact and influence a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, affect, and implement change.
  • Experience interacting with and managing expectations of executive level management.
  • Experience with global resourcing strategies and implementations.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $122,800 - $217,300

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
