Position Summary:

The Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach is responsible for building a competitive and inclusive soccer program that reflects the values of GVR Athletics. This leader will oversee all aspects of the high school boys soccer team, emphasizing athletic skill, personal discipline, and academic accountability.

Start Date: Immediately

End Date: 10/31/25

Stipend Amount: $2,500

 

Core Responsibilities:

Program Leadership

  • Create and implement a clear vision and culture for the boys soccer program aligned with the athletic department’s mission and values.
  • Lead all facets of the program, including tryouts, training sessions, game strategy, and program management.
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise assistant and JV coaches to ensure alignment and consistency across teams.

Athlete Development

  • Provide intentional coaching focused on both individual growth and team performance.
  • Promote academic achievement, monitoring player eligibility and supporting academic goals.
  • Teach and model sportsmanship, respect, and discipline in all interactions.

Communication & Community

  • Serve as a role model and mentor to student-athletes.
  • Communicate consistently and professionally with athletes, families, and school staff.
  • Support community-building efforts through outreach, events, and collaboration with families and staff.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with DSST, CHSAA, and league policies.
  • Coordinate logistics for practices, games, uniforms, and transportation with the Athletic Department.
  • Maintain required documentation such as rosters, eligibility forms, and physicals.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience coaching soccer (head coach or assistant at the high school or club level preferred).
  • Deep understanding of the game and ability to teach fundamental and advanced skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with high school students in a diverse, equity-centered environment.
  • Must meet CHSAA and DSST coaching requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
