11Analyst / Principal Analyst – Investing in Energy
The Role:
The Finance to Energy team works with S&P Energy Commodity clients to provide financial and capital markets decision support through insights, data and advisory. The Team works across the full spectrum of energy markets for clients investing in oil and gas, as well as power, solar, wind, batteries and energy storage, and related commodities and technologies.
The Analyst/Principal Analyst role involves assessing technology value chains, evaluating investment opportunities, assessing market opportunities, capital deployment and forecasting market trends. The role will also contribute to and lead other wide-ranging engagement in the Energy Capital space. The focus would be on clean technologies, and the capital and investment environment around electrification.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help build and grow a team addressing the needs of the global capital deployment in energy. You will work with a dynamic team of researchers and experts with wide-ranging backgrounds in finance, energy and policy. The varied and changing nature of the research and client needs leads to development of a diverse set of skills, and includes exposure to investors, industry leaders and policy makers.
The Team: The Investing in Energy team works within our Energy Horizon group to provide investors with cross-sector energy advisory and decision support through subscription-based research and data solutions. The client-facing team is located across the globe with offices in New York, Washington, Houston, and London.
The Impact: This position will be an integral member of the Horizonts team that drives engagement with the financial sector’s Investment Banking, Investment Management, and Private Equity divisions.

The critical-thinking analyst will produce provocative, data-supported reports that offer insights to client teams making active investments in energy commodities, companies, and infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of traditional and clean energy market and industry coverage and the analyst will be tasked with helping research the cross-energy themes that will define energy markets for years to come.
Responsibilities:
Analyze industry data and information and author forward-looking research reports that track and identify industry trends and company strategies.
Help research and develop cross-energy thematic research leveraging the breadth of expertise and content generated at S&P Global Commodity insights
Support client requests by providing quick and comprehensive answers to questions about research findings.
Work with guidance to author research deliverables and prepare presentations, often in coordination with globally distributed and time-constrained teams.
Challenge ideas and influence others across multiple teams.
Act as a researcher on key projects that the team is developing
Help organize
What We’re Looking For:
3-5 years or more of experience in energy, finance, industry or consulting environments. A knowledge of Renewable energies trends and fundamentals will be a significant plus.
Strong written and oral presentation skills in English. Excellent writing abilities required for this position.
Great organization skills to help manage complex set of research projects and client outreach
Minimum educational qualification is a bachelor’s degree, with a post-graduate degree preferred.
Student of energy markets with skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Ability to process and distill a wide array of information and data to uncover thematic threads
Ability to work in a collaborative team-oriented environment
Resourceful and not afraid to ask questions

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to 100,000.00. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
