Position Summary

The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus.

We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 10.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management.

Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors.

This position involves managing data related to space utilization, developing metrics to support strategic planning, and ensuring the effective use of physical resources. This role is inherently collaborative, requiring close coordination with various teams within the Facilities Management Department and across the university to support long-term growth and operational efficiency while upholding the university’s strategic objectives and OFMD core values of Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence (PRIDE).

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collects, analyzes and maintains complex cost data, as well as data on the usage of campus spaces, identifying trends and opportunities for improved space management. Provides necessary interpretation and explanation of work product as needed to peers and leadership.
  • Participates in development, preparation, review and evaluation of annual strategic planning project and budgeting process. May provide project management in support of unique and on-going initiatives.
  • Designs/implements complex database applications maintaining accurate records of space allocation and utilization, budget/cost information, and managing databases to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Assists with development and utilization of other complex financial models and analysis with relation to space planning/management.
  • Develops and implements key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate space utilization and efficiency, and create reports and dashboards for decision-making.
  • Assists planners in developing long-term strategies for space management and provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Plans, develops and prepares special financial, project status, budget, and performance reports for management.
  • Attends meetings, education programs, workshops and keeps abreast of current literature.
  • Assists in update/maintenance of asset/space records, inventory levels and related project needs.
  • Works closely with other departments and communicate effectively with stakeholders about ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Integrates sustainable practices into space management projects to support the university’s sustainability goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$49,700.00 - $82,100.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
