The Opportunity 

This position will work onsite at our Austin, TX office in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and live better.  

What You’ll Work on 

The Manager, Global Congress Strategy is responsible for establishing the Heart Failure global congress strategy in partnership with Global Marketing, inclusive of Brand and Channel Marketing, Commercial Excellence and Upstream Marketing, as well as the Geography Marketers. Responsible for the implementation of the strategy at tier 1 congresses and ensuring each of the geographies has the relevant information to execute locally for their respective congresses. Acts as a brand champion and ensures all Global Congresses are consistent and accurately supports the Global Congress Strategy. 
 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Partner with Global Marketing to develop annual global congress objectives and strategies, inclusive of key products, customer engagements and technology. 

  • Provide congress strategy expertise to cross-functional teams and recommend most effective ways to achieve objectives. 

  • Create and maintain an annual Congress strategy “in a box” for global use. 

  • Identify ways to further strengthen customer engagement opportunities at global congresses. 

  • Exercise judgment independently. Plan and organize project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Initiate and manage schedule for projects and project milestones. Establish priorities of individual or project assignments. 

  • Update and actively maintain yearly global congress calendar. 

  • Participate as HF representative on core team planning calls for Abbott cross-divisional congresses. 

  • Act at Brand and Channel core team lead (i.e. Providing feedback/council/decisions on booth, graphics, messaging, technology, comms plans, etc) for all tier 1 HF global congresses and communicating to HF Marketing leadership. 

  • Work in direct partnership with Meetings & Events team to execute on all tier 1 global congresses. 

  • Champion the Abbott brand in all materials and ensures it is aligned to the corporate brand standards. 

  • Manage tradeshow “portables” strategy to deliver consistency across smaller regional meetings and drives updates as needed. 

  • Execute a high level of project management, ensuring projects are moving forward and hitting deadlines. 

  • Create post congress customer engagement analysis and lead dissemination tracking. 

  • Use both congress timelines and product launch timelines that are currently being created to keep team on track and help drive when to start planning/working on each item at a high-level  

  • Provide weekly updates during team huddle on projects in jeopardy of hitting deadlines or stuck. 

  • Create and maintain archive of completed event projects. 

  • Supports all company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. 

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. 

  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising or equivalent. 

  • At least 8 years related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area. 

  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills. 

  • Proven track record of delivering measurable, successful multi-channel, sales-enabling campaigns. 

  • Project management skills a must; managing work demands effectively and thriving in a fast paced, geographically diverse business environment. 

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.  

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. 

  • Travel expected 25% and/or as necessary.

The base pay for this position is

$95,000.00 – $190,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
