Job Summary
As a Tooling FA Jr. Engineer II at Jabil, Inc., you will be responsible for supporting the failure analysis (FA) of tooling components, identifying root causes of failures, and contributing to the development of robust tooling solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and product quality.
Job Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed failure analysis on various tooling components (e.g., molds, dies, fixtures, jigs) using established methodologies and equipment.
* Document failure analysis findings comprehensively, including visual inspections, material characterization, and analytical results.
* Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to understand tooling requirements and failure modes.
* Assist in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions based on failure analysis results.
* Support the development and improvement of tooling FA procedures and best practices.
* Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used for failure analysis, such as microscopes, hardness testers, and basic metrology tools.
* Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve tooling-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing FA findings and recommendations.
* Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards in the FA lab environment.
* Provide support for new tool qualification and process validation activities.
Job Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
* 1-3 years of experience in tooling, manufacturing, or failure analysis, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
* Foundational understanding of tooling principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping, machining).
* Experience with basic failure analysis techniques (e.g., visual inspection, microscopy, basic metrology).
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering schematics.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
