SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
Coats surface of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, dope, or stain using spray gun. Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the fabrication and development of mechanical engineering designs, painting/coating and modifications of assemblies and related hardware. With little supervision, technician must demonstrate good knowledge of all aspects of painting/coating processes including understanding mixing equipment, surface preparation, masking, paint touch up by brush application and oven cured primers and paints. Experience with painting and coating of flight hardware. This position may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work any shift. PPE (half- and full-face respirators) required while painting.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 6 years of experience performing painting or coating of flight hardware.
• Experience handling shelf-life controlled chemicals or hazardous waste.
• Must have experience working from the following: engineering drawings, blueprints and procedural documents.
• Understand Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances
