Hybrid: This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office, so you should live within commuting distance. Hybrid teams may work in-office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter, as decided by leadership. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to assist in building and strengthening our new-generation Risk platform. GoDaddy is a global product's seller to customers from all over the world. This makes GoDaddy a primary target for fraud and abuse activities. GoDaddy's Risk Platform has a responsibility to stop that activity and forecast and prevent any future activity across GoDaddy. We are building a modern cloud-native eCommerce platform that will power eCommerce on GoDaddy properties for years to come.

What you'll get to do...

  • Enable teams to deliver customer value, drive business growth, and build scalable technology platforms for the future, by sharing expertise, fostering collaboration, and coordinating technical aspects of projects.
  • Improve the observability of our production services, allowing the team to quickly highlight gaps, resolve issues, and understand the performance of our systems.
  • Lead by example with a high standard for coding practices, including practical coding standards, modern software development approaches, test automation, and a strong focus on security.
  • Share your expertise by training and guiding other engineers, encouraging a collaborative and nurturing environment for learning.
  • Engage with engineers and partners across the organization to solve problems with broad impact, stay ahead of the curve with new technologies, and advocate for modern and effective tech stacks.

Your experience should include...

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a proven track record of driving technology decisions, adopting best practices and principles to deliver high-quality, large scale distributed applications or solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience in multiple programming languages, including Java.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, event-driven design and distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of building fault tolerant systems (observability practices, operational excellence).
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Testing, CICD, Git, Streaming technologies like Kinesis, Relational and no-SQL Databases, and Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Strong communication skills.
