HudsonTactix represents the claims division at ShorlineHudson, an international risk solutions company, under the ownership of Acrisure LLC, a global fintech leader. HudsonTactix supports vessel owners and P&I clubs by managing and resolving vessel, cargo, and medical claims, providing medical management for sick and injured vessel crew, reviewing crew medical bills and coordinating crew repatriation. HudsonTactix works to simplify the complexity of the situation and to resolve and process claims in a way that fully protects our clients’ interests. 

Job Summary:

The Claims Assistant will be responsible for day-to-day administrative duties involving claims management. The Assistant provides customer support, performs clerical and administrative duties, and interfaces with claimants, medical providers, and clients, while training to develop relevant knowledge and skills necessary to assist with maritime claims resolutions. The Claims Assistant will work with co-workers and clients to gather required documentation and information related to maritime insurance claims, on instruction from insurers and insureds, to seek the efficient resolution of maritime insurance claims. The position is remote. Local employees report to headquarter office in Cherry Hill, NJ one day a week and as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform admin work including document scanning, copying, and faxing.
  • Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets and check lists.
  • Review mail for accuracy and enter data.
  • Communicate with claims staff, medical providers, claimants, and clients.
  • Arrange medical exams for sick and injured vessel crew members. 
  • Obtain the best resolution for clients’ claim needs.
  • Perform bill review and invoice claims. 

  • Available to work flex schedule, which includes occasional weekend duty and evenings 2 nights a week.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Some knowledge of medical issues/medical coding a plus, but not necessary.
  • Microsoft Office suite – demonstrated proficiency, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Intuitive grasp of web-based software for data entry and tracking.
  • Self-motivated/Self-starter with strong business writing and telephone communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma required; candidates with associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • Training or certifications relevant to the Maritime Sector will be attractive though not required. Medical bill review or claims experience is a plus.

Pay Details:

The base compensation range for this position is $40,000 - $44,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
