Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn Typescript would be a strong plus here, to enable quickly building on top of VSCode APIs.

This position requires deep technical knowledge of Zephyr RTOS, an ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and the broader Zephyr community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with internal teams to develop and enhance tools that improve the Zephyr RTOS development experience.
  • Making debugging  Zephyr applications easier using tools like coredumps, GDB, and other utilities within the Zephyr ecosystem.
  • Optimize and streamline workflows related to Zephyr SDK, west and twister.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Zephyr's DeviceTree, KConfig, and build environment.
  • Actively engage with the Zephyr developer community, contributing to discussions, and proposing new features or improvements to the Zephyr ecosystem.
  • Work with the rest of the IDE team to ensure your vision of improving the Zephyr experience is translated into a usable solution, within the resource and time constraints per release

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Zephyr RTOS software architecture and its key components.
  • Proven experience in debugging Zephyr applications and using Zephyr-specific tools like coredumps and GDB.
  • Solid understanding of DeviceTree and KConfig as used within Zephyr RTOS.
  • Experience with west, Zephyr’s build and project management tool.
  • Familiarity with the Zephyr build environment, including Zephyr SDK.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with the Zephyr developer community, contributing to discussions, submitting patches, and staying current with the latest developments.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, pain points, and solutions to fellow engineers and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to identify common issues developers face with Zephyr and its tools and propose practical solutions.
  • Strong experience in embedded C
  • Experience with Python to work with the source of tools like west and twister

Preferred Skills (Strong Differentiators):

  • Experience with TypeScript and/or Node.js for tool or plugin development a very strong plus
  • Familiarity with React and web-based user interface development a plus
  • Experience in writing plugins for Visual Studio Code (VSCode) or using VSCode APIs to improve the IDE experience for developers.

Why Join Us:

  • Work on cutting-edge projects in embedded systems and RTOS tooling.
  • Collaborate with a talented team of engineers and the global Zephyr community.
  • Be a key player in shaping the future of developer tooling for one of the most widely used real-time operating systems.
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and a flexible work environment.
