The School of Medicine is seeking applications for a faculty position to serve as the Director, M4 Curriculum and Clinical Simulations. The primary responsibility of this position is to direct the operations of the Simulation Center. This includes working with departmental in the development and implementation of instructional methods and evaluation strategies for an integrated clinical skills curriculum, maintenance of physical resources including a sophisticated data/video software management system, and implementing an integrated standardized patient program for diverse learners to include all levels of medical, dental, physician assistant, and Allied Health students and all levels of residents and faculty.

Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):

 

• Developing and integrating the curriculum to enhance student learning and clinical skills.

• Overseeing the delivery of simulation and clinical education programs, ensuring they meet learning objectives.

• Collaborating with faculty and staff to maintain the curriculum's relevance and effectiveness.

• Monitoring and assessing student performance to ensure the curriculum meets educational standards.

• Involvement in scholarly activities and leadership roles within the educational initiatives.

• Support the expansion of departmental simulation-based activities as deemed appropriate and necessary by departmental leaders.

• Assist in the development of special simulation-based projects (e.g., disaster drills, multi-disciplinary training, introduction of new technology or equipment).

• Collaborate with faculty and staff throughout the MMC medical community on simulation-based activities.

• Actively participate in engaging multidisciplinary trainees/learners in the application of newer and advanced technologies such as mixed/augment/virtual reality to train, educate as well as assist in conducting research in this realm.

• Provide leadership for the development of simulation activities for conferences.

• Develop and implement simulation instructor training for faculty and residents. Maintain a core group of simulation faculty.

• Oversee programs for development and maintenance of faculty procedural skills

• Design appropriate methods for evaluating the efficacy of departmental simulation-based training activities and maintain on-going data collection on the efficacy of simulation-based training activities.

• Solicit and regularly review feedback on departmental simulation-based activities.

• Support the development and writing of grants to support research related to simulation-based activities. Consult on resident and faculty simulation scholarship

• Developing and integrating the M4 curriculum, to enhance student learning and clinical skills.

• Collaborating with faculty, students, and staff to maintain the M4 curriculum’s relevance and effectiveness.

• Monitoring and assessing student progress.

• Providing leadership for the development of M4 required and elective courses.

Education and Experience Required:

 

  • MD or equivalent

  • Completion of a ACGME residency program if applicable

·         Board Eligibility or Board Certification in area of specialty

·         Eligible for license to practice medicine in the State of Tennessee

·         DEA

·         Recognition as an excellent educator

·         Meet criteria for a faculty appointment in the School of Medicine
