Market Risk Automated Insights Enablement is part of the Risk, Data, Insights & Analytics (RDIA) crew within Technology supporting Group Risk Management Strategy, Data and AI. The RDIA crew is responsible for using data to help the Bank make better risk management decisions.  We do this by creating amazing, innovative products that provide advanced insights capability as well as on-demand analytics as a service capabilities.  We are focused on innovation and are pushing the boundaries within risk.

Do work that matters

Reporting to the Crew Tech Lead - RDIA, you will lead operation of existing reporting capabilities related to APS116 and APS117 as well as the development and ongoing improvement of new reporting capabilities between Finance, Risk and Front Office that will help CBA meet our regulatory obligations.

Leading a team you’ll be responsible for growing the team’s knowledge in the Market Risk domain and developing technical capabilities in Tableau, Python and AWS services. You will ensure that the high quality of existing APS116 and APS117 reporting is maintained, facilitate market risk change as well as fulfilling regulator requests for information. In addition, you will be responsible for strengthening and modernising the capabilities of Risk through improved automation, digitisation, AI adoption and uplifting the control environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the governance and control framework for Traded and Non-Traded Market Risk Reporting
  • Drivie the automation of the production of dashboards and reports on AWS Cloud
  • Work with stakeholders to enable delivery of business initiatives and projects
  • Assist with the delivery of reporting requirements for APRA mandated changes to APS116 and APS117
  • Lead the development of a team of risk professionals in both Risk Management and Technology domains
  • Establish credibility and trust with senior leaders and be a trusted advisor on a range of strategic business issues
  • Actively pursue the development of the risk analytical capability for Market Risk within the CBA based best practice - demonstrating courage in challenging thinking and assumptions, creating healthy debate and presenting alternatives
  • Providing subject matter expertise on market risk management inclusive of APS 116 and APS 117

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Strong experience in Financial Markets within Risk Management
  • Prior experience within traded market risk, non-traded market risk, financial control, and/or product control.
  • Experience in understanding control design and assessment.
  • Deep understanding of APRA’s Prudential Standard APS116 Capital Adequacy: Market Risk OR APRA’s Prudential Standard APS117 Capital Adequacy: Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book
  • Detailed understanding of complex financial instruments and the measurement of risk in relation to these instruments
  • Detailed understanding of market risk measurement principles and techniques
  • Experience in delivering risk reporting and analytics
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accounting frameworks and the end-to-end use of models through to calculations of risk measures such as provisions and capital
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT systems, software tools and data visualisation / reporting tools
  • Project and change management skills
  • Ability to advise and direct transformational and governance activities
  • Previous experience using Murex is desirable
  • Previous experience using Tableau or similar BI tools is desirable
