Job Summary
The Radiology Technologist performs a variety of technical and diagnostic procedures under the direction of a lead technologist and/or physician.
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Functions independently in OR and ER rooms; Perform Routine or Trauma Radiologic Tests and use Radiologic Imaging skills to treat patients
• Gather and exchange patient information with nursing and physicians ensuring proper identification, patient history, and reason for exam is accurately acknowledged
• Correctly set-up and use all Diagnostic Equipment in each room and each rotation, after proper
in-servicing and a suitable amount of time to get acquainted with the technical factors.
• Correctly and efficiently set up Exam and/or OR rooms for Fluoroscopic and OR Surgical exams, including, equipment, “Trays”, Contrast, Supplies, etc. Know the appropriate contrast for specific exams.
• Operate and maintain highly specialized medical imaging equipment and other accessory equipment; Notify Lead Tech and/or Supervisor of issues with malfunctioning or unsafe to use
• Maintain order and cleanliness in patient and surgical rooms to prevent cross contamination
• Maintains inventory supplies, coordinates student/patient room assignments
• Manages documentation and appropriate paperwork following exams; Includes use of Cerner RIS Computer System
• All other related assigned responsibilities
Education and Experience
• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• +2 years of experience General Radiologic practice
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Current Texas Medical Board MRT License certification
• BLS within 30 days of hire into the role
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to perform portable and/or surgical procedures, fluoroscopic, and EC procedures, including general and trauma radiography
• Organized and strong attention to detail
• Apt to understand the need for urgency
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires extensive interaction with all Hospital Units and Floors, as well as TTUHSC Clinics and other Physician Clinics within and outside of the Lubbock Community
Physical Capabilities
Work requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, and transporting patients, equipment and/or supplies. Should be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be emotionally and physically fit
Environmental/Working Conditions
This position requires frequent work near sources of radiation and in low light conditions in order to see the centering lights. Fast paced environment with occasional to frequent high pressure or emergent situations. This position is subject to inside environmental conditions. Occupational risk and exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, ionizing radiation, blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a Hospital/Medical environment.
