About the Role

To work within the Pathology Accounts Department and perform credit control functions and routine pathology billing duties as a part of the pathology accounts team. Some of the key responsibilities of the Accounts Clerk will include:

  • Prepare and complete invoicing activities for the hospital.

  • Accounts receivable functions which include but not limited to receipting and reconciliation of payments, maintenance, and recovery of outstanding debtors.

  • Manage effective credit control levels and maintain systems to report outstanding debt and recovery.

  • Collection of payments including investigating and resolving queries in person, telephone and email.

  • Review invoicing of Pathology episodes for hospital inpatients who have become billable since the performance of testing.

  • Assist with claims to Medicare, DVA and Private Health Insurance funds and resolving billing exceptions and /or errors.

  • Accurately record and validate information from source systems and documentation, and process correspondence in regards to emails and telephone calls. You may be required to be in direct contact with customers with regards to complex billing queries.

  • Administrative duties including sorting, and distributing of incoming and outcoming mail, answering the telephone and email enquiries.


Classifications for this position will range from HS1 - HS17 ($58,442 - $63,138 per annum pro rata for part time).

  • Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain
