Primary Role:

Technologies Superintendent 1’s perform skilled work while supervising project execution and providing guidance to all personnel on an assigned project. They typically report to a Technologies Project Manager and at times Regional, Divisional, and Department leaders. The Tech Superintendent 1 position requires not only broad field experience and knowledge, but many leadership and administrative skills and abilities. The right individual for this position is able to handle many challenging tasks at a time, while placing the priority on client satisfaction, team safety, working with budget consciousness, and striving for excellence, as well as the ability to teach their teams those qualities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads teams up to 10 team members and works hands on to install, repair, terminate, certify and troubleshoot devices and cabling of low voltage systems
  • Responsible for working with Tech Project Manager to establish and follow a budget, manage labor hours, committed costs and material costs
  • Communicates with Tech Project Manager regarding completed tasks, potential issues, and manpower requirements in advance
  • Prepares progress reports, and works with Tech Project Manager to prepare monthly projections that are critical in accurately reflecting cash flow and profits
  • Ensures work is carried out safely and to industry standards; ensures standards for safe working conditions are observed
  • Keeps employees aware of all important changes regarding safety policies, industry standards, and general work procedures to ensure work is consistently carried out safely, within all legal parameters and with high quality
  • Demonstrates advanced leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with a desire to continue growing those skills
  • Install, repair, terminate, certify, and label cabling for one or more of the following systems:
    •  Infrastructure (ITS)
    • Access Control/Security
    • Cameras (CCTV)
    • Paging systems
  • Installs cables and/or wires into Access Control/Security panels and modules
  • Install Devices for one or more of the following systems:
    • Access Control/Security
    •  Cameras (CCTV)
    • Access Points (Wi-Fi)
    •  Paging systems
  • Understand and adhere to POE requirements for Cameras (CCTV)
  • Responsible for managing and completing service calls that involve troubleshooting and identifying faults with one or more of the following systems:
    • Copper (Analog systems)
    • Fiber
    • Audio/Visual (AV)
    •  Cameras (CCTV)
  • Obtain and change IP information on cameras as needed
  • Maintains task and punch lists for projects and oversees their completion
  • Responsible for correctly and accurately completing closeout documentation including As-Builts, test results and Customer System Training
  • Maintains Drawings and labeling of drawings for use of close out documents
  • Maintains and plans inventory and materials for use on next day tasks, as well as weekly and two-week lookaheads; Responsible for auditing material for weekly and monthly look-ahead work
  • Collaborate with Tech Project Manager to evaluate with field personnel working under their supervision, as needed
  • Responsible for planning daily, weekly, and two-week look ahead tasks, including the continual pre-planning needed to achieve specified tasks and timelines
  • Work independently with minimal instruction or supervision to build out of MDF, IDF, Enclosures, Ladder Tray, Basket, and install 2-4 post racks
  • Responsible for punch down, routing, labelling, and dressing all cabling coming into Rack or Enclosure correctly and accurately
  • Able to install one or more of the following without supervision:
    • Head-end equipment
    • Switches
    • Horizontal Management
    • Vertical Management
    • Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) system
    • Patch cables
  •  Cross Connect or Patch-in Copper, and/or Fiber systems as designed; terminates and splices fiber
  • Identifies differences in Multi-Mode and Single-Mode fiber
  • Uses certifiers and interprets copper and fiber test results
  • Actively participates in leadership training when given the opportunity
  • Identifies any delays or obstacles of assigned task or service and communicates with immediate supervisor
  • Work independently to determine and install pathways
  • Understand and adhere to BICSI , ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for Low Voltage Installations
  • Terminate data jacks and mod plugs
  • Understand specifications of IDF and data closet enclosures and assists with installation and repair of those enclosures
  • Correctly and safety feed cable, wire and/or wires during installation
  • Responsible for safely using, maintaining, and interpretation of results for all test equipment under their direction; uploads test results to the proper location
  • Prints labels in adherence with job specs
  • Keeps detailed records of device and cabling locations
  • Understands firestopping, riser and plenum environments
  • Leads and coaches teams of Technicians; capable of leading larger teams as needed 
  • Work with and around other construction trades in a professional, productive and safe manner
  • Make skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects such as small electronic parts
  • Perform skilled work while overcoming common environmental challenges such as working in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions
  • Work with others in a cooperative manner; understand and follow direction
  • Think and act quickly in emergency situations and perform under pressure
  • Complete tasks accurately and productively, always seeking guidance for any unclear aspects of the task and immediately seeking a new task when the current task is finished
  • Work to learn job-related material through peers, supervisors, and company training
  • Accountable for tools and materials used on the jobsite and responsible for securing and returning them to the designated area
  • Obtain required Amteck safety certifications, communicate with team members regarding any safety deficiencies, and work safely without presenting a direct threat to self and others
