The TechCrunch, Director of Sales and Business Development will drive innovation, deliver best-in-class multi-platform sales ideas that meet client needs, and leverage brand assets that align with the Yahoo property. They will serve as an overall relationship manager with the editorial leads to bring value to all constituencies.

They will maintain a strategic view over the team's portfolio to align and maximize the impact of solutions provided to key stakeholders. Additionally, they will partner with cross-functional teams to create larger partnership ideas for direct sponsorship.

A Little About the Role:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of senior TechCrunch sellers

  • Identify and prioritize high-potential targets, ad categories and clients 

  • Develop and lead a sales strategy to meet or exceed revenue targets through the sale of bespoke ad deals

  • Lead revenue reporting, forecasting and pipeline management 

  • Collaborate closely with the product and marketing teams to ensure that bespoke ad deals are tailored to meet the client’s needs

Sales Positioning and Packaging

  • Shape and define the sales offerings in-market - creative ideation for partnerships

  • Serve as the connective tissue between sales and editorial to drive premium and programmatic ad sales and event sponsorships.

  • Responsible for guiding the development, positioning, and packaging of multi-platform marketing solutions for clients

Sales Strategy, Editorial Partnership, and Ad Product Development

  • Primary liaison between editorial and sales to develop new ideas and content offerings

  • Partner at times with premium packaging leads of a related Yahoo property to develop the GTM roadmap, including the high-level strategy for each deliverable 

  • Partner with product team to shape and innovate roadmaps for commercial growth

  • Partner with consumer marketing and insights on audience segmentation  and trade marketing

  • Develop existing and net new events for commercial growth

  • Collaborate with other operational teams and GM to drive commercial  workstreams

A Little About You:

  • 10+ years of sales experience in the advertising industry, with a focus on direct sales, digital news, and events 

  • Subject matter expertise: deep knowledge of big and smaller tech clients, their customers, and the advertising landscape

  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an agile, build-phase environment

  • Deep knowledge of the tech, startup, and VC industry, including trends, challenges, and key players

  • Strong track record of success in meeting or exceeding sales targets

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships

  • Ability to generate fresh leads and develop partnerships that drive revenue

The compensation for this position ranges from $129,210.00 - $281,305.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
