The Qantas Airlines and QantasLink People Leadership team continues to evolve with the business, which has created a number of Head of People opportunities. These roles report directly to the Executive Manager People, Qantas Airlines and QantasLink and are responsible for the full spectrum of Human Resources (HR) activities across their dedicated portfolio within the Qantas Airlines business, with portfolios including Engineering, Freight & Commercial, Airports & Operations Planning and Flight Operations & Safety. In these roles you will lead a dedicated team of HR professionals and partner closely with your respective executive leadership teams to help set and drive the People strategy, transforming key initiatives into tangible outcomes across the organisation - including both business transformation and key programs of work across the employee life cycle. As a Head of People you will bring expertise navigating complex environments, building a high performance culture and ensuring alignment across core business objectives and employee engagement.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 12+ years’ experience and expert knowledge across the field of Human Resources with experience in a Senior Human Resources Leadership role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or Law related fields.
  • Proven expertise in Human Resources business partnering, with a track record of formulating and executing strategies.
  • Strong commercial acumen, complemented by experience across operational portfolios.
  • Experience as a trusted strategic advisor adept at building effective relationships with senior executive leadership teams, with a history of driving collaboration and using influence to shape the business direction.
  • Well versed in navigating matrix organisational structures, skilled at driving change and transformation.
  • Solid experience in customer centric environments, with a deep understanding of industrial workforce dynamics.
  • Experience as a key member of a Senior Leadership team working with alignment and collaboratively driving initiatives within area of responsibility and more broadly across the leadership team
  • Collaborative and responsive leadership style, demonstrating ownership, accountability and a commitment to team development and mentorship.
