The Sr. MCU Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a senior technical customer‑facing engineering role focused on enabling successful adoption of NXP MCU products (e.g., RT, MCX, S32K, LPC families). The role combines deep MCU technical expertise with strong system‑level thinking, customer engagement, and proactive solution building.
You support key accounts, distribution partners, and internal teams—including Sales, Marketing, system engineering, and DFAE—to drive design‑ins and successful mass‑production launches.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in EE/CE or related fields
  • 5–10+ years MCU development / application experience
  • Proficiency in:
    • ARM Cortex‑M architecture
    • C/C++ embedded programming
    • RTOS (FreeRTOS/Zephyr)
    • Peripherals: ADC, PWM, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB
    • Bootloader, OTA, and low‑power systems

Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Customer Support
  • Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support across broad MCU portfolios (e.g., i.MX RT, MCX).
  • Offer deep‑dive system guidance on clocking, power, memory, safety, security, connectivity, boot flow, and peripheral configuration.
  • Support customers through EVT/DVT/PVT phases, helping debug HW/SW issues.

2. Design‑In Ownership

  • Lead design‑in qualification, ensuring customer schematics, layout, and software implementation comply with NXP guidelines.
  • Use systematic debugging and structured methodology — highlighted as key gaps and initiatives in internal SE reviews

3. Technical Expertise Development

  • Maintain expertise across MCU roadmap, toolchains, SDK, MCUXpresso, RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr), connectivity stacks, safety (FuSa), and security frameworks.
  • Mentor junior FAEs and share best practices, documentation, and application insights.
