The Role 

You will be part of the Antibody Research Materials Department, which belongs to the Discovery functional organization of Genmab. In this role, your knowledge and skills will help drive Genmab's discovery pipeline as you will manage the teams that are responsible for providing the essential research materials for our projects. 

 

As the Director Protein and Cell Supply you will be responsible for the supply chain from vector design to protein production to logistics. You will lead three processes (and teams) to ensure a smooth connection into a supply chain for protein delivery in all its facets: Cell & Molecular Design, Protein Supply & Analytics, and Protein Sample Management. You will work closely with the Team Leads to orchestrate aligned processes, efficient handovers, and continuous (process) improvements.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead three functional teams over the entire protein production process, from vector design to logistics, to ensure timely delivery, quality, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. 

  • Develop and implement strategic objectives for the protein and cell supply chain to support the overarching Discovery goals, in close connection and with input from the team leads. 

  • Cultivate a collaborative environment, stimulate, and foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Seek opportunities for scientific knowledge exchange. 

  • Support the career development of your direct reports.  

  • Drive resource planning for area of oversight, in line with strategic priorities. 

  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and other external partners to ensure a reliable supply chain. 

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency in operations. 

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with protein and cell supply. 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Advanced degree required, with a strong preference for candidates holding a Ph.D. in biotechnology, bioengineering, protein engineering, or molecular chemistry. Applicants with a Master’s degree accompanied by extensive relevant experience may also be considered. 

  • A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in early-stage biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Prior experience (5+ years) in a leadership role overseeing cross-functional teams is crucial to manage the complexities and the scale of operations in this role. Your experience should include knowledge of industry standards and scientific advances related to early-stage protein and cell production and/or supply chain management.  

  • Knowledge of implementing organizational strategy and experience with operational excellence is an advantage.
