Job Description Summary:

Full time Data Engineer with 4+ years of experience

Job Description:

As a Data Engineer on PayPal's Core Platforms in Consumer organization, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing our data infrastructure and pipelines. You will be working on segmentation and personalization related interesting problems on a platform with high scalability and availability requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience with big data technologies, cloud technologies (preferably GCP - Bigtable/BigQuery/SQL), and Spark development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to support various data processing and analytics needs for segmentation.
  • Maintain data integration solutions using big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Build new segmentation related CDP features on new GCP based architecture
  • Optimize and tune data pipelines for performance and scalability.
  • Ensure data quality and reliability through robust monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Work with cloud platforms (GCP or similar) to manage and deploy data solutions.
  • Implement data security best practices to ensure data protection and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data engineering processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka or similar technologies on GCP
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), but AWS or Azure experience is also acceptable.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
