Summary:
The Polysomnographic Technologist - Extern assists registered technologists in the area of sleep treatment. The Extern performs various diagnostic sleep studies, aiding in the treatment of sleep disorders.Responsibilities:
Prepares patients and equipment for ordered testing.Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.Performs and documents testing, monitoring the patient throughout testing and intervenes, as necessary, to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.Interviews patients to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing; determines and reports needed repairs/replacements.Competencies:

Other Information: Additional Certification Info: Must be actively pursuing appropriate sleep certification as recognized by the Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
