As Team Lead Engineering Internal Network Defense (Engineering Manager) you will focus on capabilities development of your team members that align with the function’s vision. You will encourage your team to self-define their career journey and seek ways to enable development opportunities in the direction of the journey. You will support them in removing roadblocks and by setting focus in their performance management. You make sure to develop your team with the right skills, healthy dynamics and a sustainable pace. You support the software and/or service delivery as a leader setting focus, removing impediments, managing stakeholders and creating efficiencies in collaboration wherever possible.
Description of the area
The Internal Network Defense team belongs to the Network Security organization, a cornerstone of Information Security. We provide the technologies and services that protect the entire network against IT Security incidents and digital threats.
The core stack of this Team includes:
Internal Segmentation with network firewalls (Fortinet and PaloAlto)
Internal Network Security Observability

Stakeholder Collaboration and Partnering
Deeply connect and understand the customer and business needs and closely partner with stakeholders (and business process management where applicable) to develop the strategic direction of the product and shape the digital roadmap and portfolio to quickly deliver highest value outcomes for Patients, Society and Roche
Team Leadership & Development
Identify and lead initiatives to improve the product management team's processes, tools, and best practices. Coach other product managers and team members on effective stakeholder communication and collaboration techniques. Actively contribute to a strong product culture by advocating for customer-centricity, data-informed decision-making, and continuous learning.
Customer-Centricity
Establish a clear and aspirational vision for the end-to-end user experience in the Manufacturing environment, across all touchpoints and product lines. Proactively identify emerging trends and market shifts to inform the long-term product roadmaps and maintain a competitive advantage. Define and track KPIs and use this data to inform product iterations.
Product Lifecycle & Portfolio Mgmt.
Own the end-to-end product lifecycle combining a complex set of products delivered by the different Information Security areas. Influence the long-term product strategies and roadmaps of related products. Identify new opportunities for innovation and growth. Identify and capitalise on emerging market trends and technologies to shape the future of the industry and to create new opportunities for the company.
Performance & Optimization
Focus on the long-term growth and strategic performance of a complex product or a significant area of the business. Connect product performance to broader business outcomes and guide the optimization strategy.
Financial & Resource Mgmt.
Develop multi-year financial forecasts and strategic plans for the product area in collaboration with operation leads and other product managers. Strategically allocate resources across multiple product teams or initiatives to ensure alignment with the broader business objectives and maximize portfolio ROI.
Qualifications
Experience
5+ years of experience in Information Security is an asset
3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry is an asset
5+ years of experience in people leadership, product/service management, program management or a similar role, with a proven track record of building high performing teams
Education
Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related Engineering field or equivalent experience
Professional Information Security certifications are a plus (e.g. CISSP, CISM)
Technical Skills
Proven background and solid foundation in Information Security specifically in Network Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet) in critical environments such as manufacturing plants or research labs
Operational Excellence: Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks (Incident, Change, and Problem Management) and Continuous Improvement methodologies
Automation Mindset: Hands-on experience with automation frameworks, scripting, and integrating security tools via APIs
Strong understanding of the product discovery and development lifecycle. Familiarity with GxP, FAIR data principles, and data privacy regulations (GDPR)
Leadership skills
Ability to translate high-level business and scientific goals into a concrete product vision and roadmap
Good communication and influencing skills, with the ability to manage expectations and align diverse groups towards a common goal
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Information Security experts
