The Government Affairs Director is responsible for developing and executing the government affairs strategy for the company’s China operations, ensuring compliance, regulatory alignment, and competitive advantage across its business divisions, which include consumer goods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals & health supplements, and smart hardware. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with government authorities, industry associations, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to create a favorable policy environment for business growth in China.

Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis
Develop and implement the company’s government affairs strategy in China, aligning with global and regional objectives. Monitor, analyze, and interpret policies, regulations, and industry trends impacting the company’s business areas (e.g., medical device registration, drug approval processes, consumer goods regulations, and smart hardware standards). Assess the impact of policy changes on the company’s operations and recommend actionable strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities (e.g., National Medical Products Administration, National Health Commission, State Administration for Market Regulation), industry associations, think tanks, and other key stakeholders. Represent the company in industry events, policy discussions, and public affairs forums to advocate for favorable policies and regulations. Support the company’s brand image, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability initiatives from a government affairs perspective.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure the company’s operations in China comply with relevant laws and regulations, providing support to internal teams on government-related compliance matters. Advise senior management on regulatory risks, policy changes, and compliance requirements.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with business units (e.g., marketing, sales, R&D, production) to support product registration, market access, and other business development needs. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on policy and regulatory issues to enhance their understanding and preparedness.
Crisis Management
Develop and implement crisis response plans for government-related incidents (e.g., policy shifts, regulatory investigations) to safeguard the company’s interests.
