JOB DESCRIPTION:

About Abbott

Abbott is a global healthcare leader, creating breakthrough science to improve people’s health. We’re always looking towards the future, anticipating changes in medical science and technology.

The Opportunity

Abbott Point of Care is seeking a commercially driven, high‑energy sales professional with proven experience selling into metropolitan Emergency Departments.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in penetrating new markets and understands Emergency Department workflow, knows how to engage Emergency Physicians, ED leadership, and hospital stakeholders to drive adoption of new diagnostic solutions.

You will play a critical role in launching and growing Abbott Point of Care’s New Product Introduction (NPI) pipeline, including High Sensitivity Troponin, with a primary focus on winning new ED customers and embedding long‑term clinical adoption.

This is a true new business and growth role, suited to a seller who enjoys creating momentum, navigating complexity, and closing meaningful healthcare partnerships.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Sales & New Business Growth

  • Win and convert new metropolitan Emergency Department customers through consultative, value‑based selling

  • Drive adoption of new diagnostic therapies by aligning solutions to ED throughput pressures, triage priorities, and clinical decision‑making needs

  • Own the full sales cycle,  from opportunity creation through to contract negotiation and close

  • Build and execute targeted account plans focused on high‑value ED opportunities

Clinical & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish trusted relationships with Emergency Physicians, ED Directors, Pathology, Procurement, and Executive stakeholders

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of ED workflows, time‑to‑diagnosis pressures, overcrowding challenges, and physician priorities

  • Position Abbott’s diagnostics as solutions to real clinical and operational pain points, not just products

Product Launch & Market Development

  • Lead front‑line execution of new product launches into Emergency Departments

  • Translate market insight and customer feedback into practical sales strategies

  • Partner with marketing and cross‑functional teams to support education, awareness, and physician advocacy

  • Act as a key voice into the ANZ leadership team on ED dynamics, competitive activity, and launch execution

Execution & Leadership

  • Manage multiple complex opportunities simultaneously in a dynamic hospital environment

  • Role‑model a strong “one team” mindset while influencing without authority

  • Track progress, report wins, and continuously refine tactics to improve outcomes

What Success Looks Like

  • Targeted metropolitan Emergency Departments successfully converted within the first 12–18 months

  • Strong physician advocacy established for new diagnostic therapies

  • Consistent progression of complex hospital sales cycles to contract close

  • Recognition as a credible, trusted ED partner - not just a sales representative

Experience & Capabilities We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Demonstrated success selling into metropolitan Emergency Departments

  • Clear understanding of ED workflow, clinical pressures, and physician decision‑making

  • Proven track record of winning new business in complex hospital sales environments

  • Strong ability to engage senior clinical and commercial stakeholders

  • High personal drive, resilience, and results‑focused mindset

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in diagnostics, IVD, medical devices, or pharmaceuticals

  • New product launch or therapy development experience

  • Background in category creation or market development

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or commercial field (e.g. Science, Commerce, Healthcare-related discipline)
