Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Engineering Technician – Level 1 or Level 2 to join our team in Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, FL.
The Engineering Technician performs hands on activities/tasks associated with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal protection systems application, assembly, and check-out operations.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Knowledge of coating removal, coating application, and hydraulic assembly operations is also desired.
Participates as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost, and scheduling of their team.
Candidate must be well organized and able to follow and execute computer-based shop assembly instructions.
Other duties as assigned
This position can be filled at either a Level 1 or Level 2.
Basic Qualifications for Level 1:
High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
No clearance required to start
Experience in aerospace or aviation hardware processing.
Must pass appropriate background screening to obtain a NASA Personal Identity Verification badge
Must be a US Citizen
Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
No clearance required to start
Experience in aerospace or aviation hardware processing.
Must pass appropriate background screening to obtain a NASA Personal Identity Verification badge
Must be a US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
General understanding of electronic work instruction systems (MAXIMO, Solumina).
Proficiency with hands-on electrical assembly, application of Thermal Protection (TPS), mechanical assembly, ordnance handling, and ordnance operations.
Discipline to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, safety glasses, gloves, and coveralls as required by procedure.
Ability to read, understand engineering drawings and schematics.
Capability to understand and follow electronic work instruction documents.
Capable of the use of calibrated measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and electrical meters.
Proficient with manual and power tools to match drill holes to a precise size for fitment of flight hardware.
Proficient with general heavy equipment usage (crane and forklift).
Capability to solder and proficient with electrical harness installation and mate/de-mate of electrical connectors.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Self-motivated, requiring minimal oversite; flexible and adaptable to varying work scope and tasks.
Strives for excellence in workmanship and defect-free products.
Standard computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office.
