Position Description:

Builds cloud-based database infrastructure solutions and provides robust and scalable platforms to meet business requirements. Works in an Agile manner within squad and across other teams to deliver and release valuable source code to the application and its users, using JIRA. Performs coding in programming languages using Shell scripting, Python, Groovy, and PL/SQL. Deploys applications in a DevOps environment using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and practices. Develops and migrates applications into cloud-based platforms (Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure). Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.

  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.

  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.

  • Mentors junior team members.

  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions for Cloud-based infrastructure within a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions for Cloud-based infrastructure within a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing DevOps pipelines (Jenkins) for initial development and deployment and ongoing maintenance of public Cloud solutions (AWS or Azure); developing platform automation tools using CFN Templates, PowerShell, Python, or Groovy; performing automation, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies – Cloud formation and performing monthly releases for upgrades using Jenkins or PowerShell.

  • DE designing and developing Oracle Databases on public cloud environments and developing automation scripts for feature enhancements code deployment and Rehydration; consulting with Architects and Product Owners on new application technology, product roadmaps, and delivery.

  • DE designing, building, monitoring, and managing database platforms in Cloud using automated deployment pipelines and tools -- Jenkins, Cloud Formation Stacks, CloudWatch dashboards, and Python; collaborating with architecture teams to streamline and optimize product enhancements, cost, and deployment roadmaps in the Cloud, including reviewing and evaluating new Cloud features prior to implementation.

  • DE providing production and non-production technical application support -- triaging, resolving, and providing root cause analysis -- in integrated business critical environments, using Linux OS, Cloudwatch, or Datadog logs.
