PROGRAM SUMMARY

Bring your passion and insight to a company that is committed to driving long- term sustainable growth this summer for our 10-week summer internship at our Headquarters in Portland, Oregon!  Interns can expect to gain valuable hands-on experience within their department while building partnerships with teams and fellow interns along the way! 

  • Location: Robards, Kentucky 

  • Duration: ~10 weeks 

  • Estimated Date Options:  Mid-May to end of July or

    Mid-June to end of August 

 

ABOUT THE POSITION 

The Industrial Health and Safety Intern is a member of the Global Distribution Risk Management team and will support the delivery of Safety programs for the Kentucky Distribution Center. This role will focus on updating and establishing new safety programs as well as looking at ways to further improve current safety processes.  The Intern will have the opportunity to collaborate with a seasoned Health and Safety professional to assess, recommend upgrades, and deliver improvements to our Safety program. 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE 

  • You will work with the Sr. Risk Management Analyst to upgrade and deliver a more robust Confined Space program, including a site-wide inventory, identification system, and updated training.  

  • Be part of integrating our current Hazardous Communication program documentation to a new automated portal.  

  • Collaborate with employees and leadership in the development of best safety practices and establishing a positive safety culture.  

YOU ARE 

  • At least a junior level in a bachelor’s program majoring in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field. 

  • Able to work cross-functionally, gaining buy-in from employees and leaders for safety best practices.  

  • A strong communicator who can demonstrate an ability to work with hourly production employees and leaders through effective interpersonal, written, communication, and relationship-building skills  

  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible  

 

YOU HAVE 

  • The ability to apply basic safety principles and have basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements from a compliance and best practice perspective.  

  • Possess analytical and problem identification/resolution skills  

  • Technical writing ability to document processes and required written programs. 

  •  Ability to work independently on projects, design programs, and manage timelines. 

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Current student with one of the following academic standings: Rising Senior, Senior, Graduate/ MBA student  

  • Degree relevant to the internship you are applying for 

  • Must be able to participate in 10-week program for either date option provided above 

  • Must be able to work onsite at our Distribution location for the duration of the internship- interns will partner directly with their managers regarding expectations to work collaboratively in office specified days of the week
