Do work that matters
The CIO for Technology team is seeking an experienced Principal engineer to join our new AI Powered Engineering function dedicated to working with Commonwealth Bank’s global engineering community to use AI assisted tools and capabilities in ways that improve the engineering experience and productivity.
Role responsibilities:
Regularly tackle the largest and most complex problems in the team, from technical design to production.
Translate requirements into solid engineering deliverables, delegating work to squad members.
Rapidly experiment with emerging AI assisted engineering tools, and partner effectively with engineering squads across the Group to support real-world testing and analysis.
Deliver solutions that are used by other teams and products.
Follow a Product Engineer mindset by building features that are data-driven and customer-centric; fostering that culture within the Group.
Routinely tackle complex architecture challenges and define architectural standards.
Actively contribute to the code delivery through leading code reviews & documentation, direct contribution and fixing complex bugs.
Mentor junior members in the team.
We are interested in hearing from people who have:
A proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale, complex engineering initiatives
A working knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their application in accelerating the product development lifecycle including Generative AI
Deep knowledge of architectural patterns, cloud-native solutions on AWS & Azure, microservices architecture, solutions integration and containerisation
Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to define long-term technical direction for teams and organisations
Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with a passion for upskilling engineers and fostering a culture of innovation
The ability to influence cross-functional teams, articulate trade-offs, and align technical decisions with business objectives
Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging AI tools and integrate them into engineering workflows
Proficiency in agile development methodologies and iterative experimentation from idea to prototype to pilot to product
Expertise in full cycle engineering using modern DevSecOps practices, IaC and CI/CD tools
Strong skills in working with large structured, unstructured and semi-structured datasets
An understanding of popular ML frameworks
