As a Product Manager, Water Software, you lead the development and commercialization of a brand‑new software product that serves our water quality customers and shapes the future of our digital offerings in this space.

In this role, you will own the end‑to‑end definition, validation, development, and commercialization of a new software application, taking it from concept through launch and scale. You will be accountable for ensuring the product solves meaningful customer problems through deep customer discovery, strong product strategy, and effective leadership of cross‑functional teams to deliver commercially successful outcomes.

Following product launch, you will monitor and promote product performance, identify the resources required to support customer success and commercial goals, and develop a product roadmap informed by customer and prospect insights. You will also assess the product’s commercial viability in markets outside the United States. In addition, this role offers the opportunity to identify and advance new, innovative software product concepts over time.

This position requires a strong sense of ownership and a passion for deeply understanding customer, market, and regulatory needs. You will lead product discovery efforts, translate validated insights into clear product direction and actionable requirements, and drive cross‑functional collaboration to deliver solutions that create tangible customer and business value. Successful candidates will have experience launching and scaling greenfield, customer‑facing web‑based and/or mobile commercial software products.

This is not a role focused on backlog administration or passively translating internal requests into features. Success depends on independently defining the right product, making informed strategic decisions, and guiding the organization toward impactful outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Define and execute structured product discovery to validate customer problems, workflows, and regulatory constraints, including testing and refining initial product concepts before full development. Conduct customer interviews, field observations, and post-launch feedback sessions, including occasional on-site visits.
  • Challenge and refine internal assumptions by grounding product decisions in customer evidence, regulatory requirements, and commercial outcomes.
  • Drive and guide cross‑functional teams to make informed trade‑offs and deliver the right product, balancing customer needs, regulatory requirements, technical constraints, and commercial objectives to ensure successful market adoption.
  • Partner closely with internal regulatory experts and external auditors to ensure the product’s workflows and records are compliant, auditable, and acceptable for regulated use cases.
  • Define the pricing strategy and structure of the new product.
  • Provide critical customer and product input to the marketing team to support the commercial launch of the new product.
  • Define and achieve financial and other objectives for the new product.
  • Responsible for long-term strategy, operating performance, customer loyalty, and future development of the new product.
  • Define target sectors and segmentation and identify product commercial potential in each relevant sector. Identify markets outside of the US for successful commercial product launches.
  • Establish a clear, realistic roadmap for ongoing enhancements and adoption. Continuously refine the product to improve usability, efficiency, and business impact.
  • Occasional travel is required, especially before and directly after product launch.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Experience launching and scaling externally‑facing commercial software products (web-based and/or mobile applications preferred).
  • Experience and expertise in customer segmentation/targeting, product positioning, pricing, and forecasting.
  • Experience leading agile software development projects, and familiarity with toolsets used in this method.
  • Resourcefulness and a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, to influence without authority, and to be successful in a matrixed organization. This is an individual contributor role.
  • Preferred: experience working in regulated environments (or strong aptitude to quickly develop regulatory fluency) and collaborating with compliance, quality, or regulatory stakeholders.
  • Solid reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues and prioritize features and projects.
  • Solid financial management and analysis skills.
  • Strong execution and prioritization skills, with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage trade‑offs in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent organization with ability to manage and prioritize several projects at once.
  • Drive, initiative and creativity, with the demonstrated thought leadership ability.
  • Influencing skills to gain commitment and support for decisions and motivate the organization to support key initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong/advanced presentation skills; ability to present and explain product information to all audiences.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
