Job Description: Automotive Staff (S4) Power Field Applications Engineer

Reports To:                 FAE Technical Leader Automotive EMEA as part of EMEA Sales Team

Role Definition

We are looking for an enthusiast and dynamic Automotive Power Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support our Strategic & Key Accounts in EMEA. As a Field Applications Engineer, you are the bridge between product development groups and top automotive customers in EMEA. Your primary goal is winning new business though proactive in-depth design and development support that will solve customer challenges.

In this role you will be responsible for impacting the customer solution with technology proposals from the early architecture phase via design and evaluation to mass production phase with special focus on power. Together with the customer’s engineering teams you will work on cutting edge automotive applications like e.g. solutions for autonomous driving or electrification.

The Automotive FAE must be able to identify customer platform requirements (hardware and software) and work closely internally with Analog Devices Business Units. You will impact ADI’s power device roadmap and contribute to new product definitions together with ADI’s System Engineering. You will take ownership for driving the resolution of all technical issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the design in sales process.

The Automotive FAE must be able to build trust, establish and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 customers as well as ADI internal automotive Business Units. You would need to invest in your product and system level knowledge on an ongoing basis through the various training and development opportunities.

Your tasks

  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge level for wide range of vehicle systems and sub system applications across multiple Tier1s.
  • Help the customer to design complex high performance power solutions integrating Analog Devices  vast product portfolio
  • Establishing and maintaining customer relationships, organize on-site visits to provide customer service and sales support
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFQs
  • Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements identifying customer's needs and translating them into specifications and/or design ideas for the automotive Business Units
  • Perform customer’s schematic and layout review in collaboration with the Business Units
  • Work jointly with customers in lab to support application debugging
  • Prepare Proof of Concept demos demonstrating to the customer the value added by ADI’s chipsets
  • Generate high-quality documentation such as technical presentation, application notes and meeting notes

Qualifications and Skills required

  • BSc/BEng/MSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Profound knowledge of analog circuit design in general and power supply design in particular
  • Strong theoretical background on switched mode power supplies and hands on experience in designing high performance power solutions
  • Work experience >10 years in engineering with semiconductor and/or automotive industries
  • Profound understanding or power architectures and power electronic design experience
  • Good knowledge of embedded systems and processor architectures
  • Good understanding of common digital interfaces as well as Analog principles like ADC/ DACs
  • Basic understanding of software design and its application with electronic embedded systems
  • Experience in using simulation tools like e.g. LTSpiceExcellent problem-solving skills
  • Curious nature and willingness to challenge the status Quo
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as need to collaborate with global teams
  • Languages:  English (min. C1), German (min. B1)
  • Available for travel 50% of working time
  • Driving license required
