The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) is a private American auto insurance company with headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. GEICO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway and is the third largest auto insurer in the United States. In 2023, GEICO earned premiums worth over $40 billion U.S. dollars.

We are looking for an operational Licensing Director to be responsible for overseeing the licensing operation, in addition to the organizational compliance as it relates to regulated P&C and Adjuster licensing requirements.  The Licensing Director will play a vital role in managing the internal relationship across all business units, in addition to coordinating with outside vendor(s) that are directly supporting all licensing tasks (e.g., New Licenses, Renewals, Entity licensing, etc…)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and implement comprehensive licensing strategies and processes that deliver exceptional quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain awareness to all Legal and Regulatory rules surrounding mandatory Producer or Adjuster licensing, to effectively inform the operations.
  • Create and maintain licensing materials and processes, including handouts, presentations, online resources, and a workflow/intake system.
  • Support Licensing trainers and Continuing Education vendors in the development or adjustment of licensing content and methods based on an ever-changing regulatory environment.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from all stakeholders, regarding the licensing process to continuously improve the end-user experience.
  • Serve as a point of contact for operational leadership, addressing their questions and concerns regarding licensing strategies, compliance or expenses.
  • Lead licensing associates and leadership, to maximize individual development and organizational impact.
  • Develop and maintain effective cost-savings strategies connected to licensing requirements, which includes timely audits and processing of current invoices.

Qualifications

  • Manager or Director experience required.
  • Management background associated with legal or regulatory compliance, with a professional licensing or designation focus, is highly preferred.
  • Must attain and maintain the required licenses issued by the insurance departments of various states.
  • Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
  • Proven ability to drive engagement and operational results.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • 10% travel expectation

  • The role will be based in one of the following offices: Lakeland, FL or Dallas, TX
