POSITION GOALS: 

Operates numerical control machines to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS include the following: Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Directs the activities of machine operators when required.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, setup cards, sketches and related technical data to determine setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences.
• Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed feed and coolant flow.
• Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions, changes cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence and measures parts both manually and with computer technology for conformance to blueprint specifications.
• Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or nonconforming machining.
• Operates the machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
• Files, sands and shapes machined parts as needed.
• Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
• Discusses nonstandard inspection methods with the Quality Technician.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

One year certification from college or technical school plus minimum of 3 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Total Base Pay Range:

50,000.00 - 62, 500.00 - 75, 000. 00 USD Annual

The compensation range for this position is $50,000.00 - $75,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
