Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Indian River Hospital’s Progressive Care Unit cares for patients that require a higher level of monitoring, including telemetry. Clinical scenarios may include managing temporary pacemakers, non-invasive ventilation for respiratory stabilization (CPAP/biPAP), invasive ventilation with tracheostomy, or stabilizing patients on a nitroglycerine drip.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm – 7:00am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider licensed military RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
