Position Summary...

What you'll do...

  • Design, build, deploy and maintain high performant APIs and software services in cloud environment for the on-demand delivery platform.
  • Develop robust, maintainable, reusable code for managing functionality, configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, scalability, availability, security, and alerting for software test, integration, and production environments.  
  • Understand the Business/Stakeholder/Technical requirements and assist in analyzing the existing solutions to address the needs. Assist in creation of simple, modular, extensible functional design for the product/solution in adherence to the requirements.  
  • Assess gaps/ updates/ modifications between the customer/business expectations and the existing product/solutions.
  • Analyze defects from past projects/solutions to avoid recurrence of similar defects.  
  • Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency and security. Troubleshoot performance and availability bottlenecks for the application.  
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test cases and deployment procedures.  
  • Follow coding and design best practices developed by the teams and contribute towards their continuous improvement.  



What you'll do:

  • Develop Last Mile Delivery software applications, with high capacity, high availability, and high-quality code. Integrate third party delivery platforms by via Restful microservices.
  • Build applications using Java, J2EE, Oracle, No SQL related technologies, RESTful Services using Kafka.
  • Work on common frameworks on the JVM including Spring, JPA, and Hibernate.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team to design, develop and maintain the backend microservices built using Java technologies, Spring framework and hosted on cloud platforms including Walmart Cloud Native Platform (Internally Azure cloud).
  • Design, build and maintain complex distributed systems based on Apache Kafka asynchronous messaging framework.
  • Ensure a highly maintainable state machinesoftware platform is built using modern technology stack and best possible data structures and algorithms are used for the specific scenarios.
  • Research industry best practices and participate in implementing Kafka messaging solutions to ensure high throughput and highly fault tolerant software services are built.
  • Analyze, design and maintain schemas on databases such as Oracle and Azure SQL by reviewing the schema designs for projects.
  • Review hibernate tool use as object-relational-model from applications and optimize usages.
  • Continuously work with DBAs to look for opportunities to improve performance by building table indexes and leveraging other database usage optimization techniques.
  • Work with operations team to estimate and plan infrastructure resourcesrequired to host the software services in a cloud environment.
  • Understand and maintain modern cloud infrastructure hosted using tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Participate in planning for recovery across multi-cloud in cases of major disasters. Provide technical guidance to team developing software solutions using NoSQL technologies including Elastic Search, Solr that supports records searching capabilities at scale.
  • Reduce customer impact due to application system issues and builds strong alerting and monitoring capabilities by using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Spotlight, and Grafana.
  • Work with small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples; identifying short- and long- term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.



What you'll bring:

  • Experience with designing and developing REST API Web services using Java, Spring and Hibernate.
  • Experience building applications using distributed caching including MemCache and Hazelcast.
  • Experience with Client-service architecture with multiple phases including system design, hardware allocation, production release and maintenance.
  • Experience with coding in an object-oriented programming Java. Experience with building application using SQL databases including Oracle and MYSQL.
  • Experience with designing and deploying services in cloud including Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, and GCP.
  • Experience with building Async processing in enterprise application including Apache Kafka, Apache TIBCO, and IBM MQ.
  • Experience with building Search Capability using Search Engines Elastic and Solr.
  • Experience using Test-driven development (TDD) for developing applications including Junit, Mockito, Power Mock, and Cucumber.
  • Experience with GitHub for maintaining and publishing code and using JIRA, Jenkins, Service Now, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Azure Data Studio and SQL Developer for developing the end-to-end applications.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting using Splunk, Dynatrace and Prometheus.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00
