Akron General offers comprehensive radiology services including diagnostics, nuclear imaging, interventional procedures and radiation oncology. This department of more than 200 healthcare professionals performs more than 220,000 exams and procedures each year. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for assisting the Radiologist in performing a variety of technical procedures by determining the proper amount of ionizing radiation to use. The caregiver in this role will work weekends either 7:00am – 7:00pm or 11:00am – 11:00pm.

  • Has current license by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and certification by the State of Ohio as a Radiologic Technologist.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for flexibility and increased work/life balance while maintaining their license and/or registration. Our Weekender Flex Program allows caregivers to work 48 hours per pay period with weekend shift options starting at 3:00pm on Fridays and ending at 8:00am on Mondays. The caregiver in this role will have a part-time status and be eligible for part-time benefits/PTO, but will be eligible for full-time tuition reimbursement benefits. Join our team and together, provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Adjusts and controls complex electronic equipment in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Prepares and positions patients prior to procedures to ensure their safety and to obtain desired reports for diagnostic purposes.
  • Calculates and selects appropriate equipment and technical factors such as proper type of film and amount of kilovolts or milliamperes. Follows radiation protection procedures.
  • Maintains working condition of all equipment and reports any malfunctions or needs for adjustments to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in maintaining sanitary condition of radiology area.
  • Instructs various hospital staff about techniques and procedures relating to radiology as requested, including Radiation Safety.
  • Stays abreast of current developments in field by reviewing available literature and attending appropriate programs.
  • Continually works to anticipate and exceed the needs and expectations of customers.
  • Properly evaluates requisitions including identifying patient and procedure to be performed. Documents and notates each treatment.
  • Complies with all Radiology information system entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.
  • Assists and supports the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect. Provides supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures. Reviews images with students on request and provides quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.
  • Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved school.


Certifications:

  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technology. Current license in the State of Ohio.


Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
