Job Summary

The Lead Billing Representative is responsible for ensuring assigned accounts receivable functions are performed within the targets for day’s outstanding, billing windows, percentage of accounts receivable and cash. This individual will also perform accounts receivable related assignments including those that are complex in nature where considerable judgment, analysis and initiative are required. They will also work on special projects as assigned by the management team. Lastly, the Lead Billing Representative will provide guidance and set priorities for the billing team members.

Pay Range

Minimum $21.55 Midpoint $28.56 Maximum $35.57

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum two (2) years of accounts receivable/customer service experience with at least one (1) year of recent experience in healthcare billing and collections to include: computerized healthcare systems, cash receipts, private collections, Medicaid, Medicate, managed care and traditional insurance.

Preferred: Three (3) or more years of accounts receivable/customer service experience supporting healthcare billing and collections. Two (2) years in a hospital business office with prior lead experience.

Education

Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree.

Training

• Required: None required.

Preferred: Working knowledge of Commercial carrier billing requirements and Medi-Cal billing guidelines.

Specialized Skills

Required: Proficient skills in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, PowerPoint). Able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, in English. Capable of managing multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Able to think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; provide leadership when needed, be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.

Work Environments - Functional Demand:

Sedentary - Very light energy level Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart.
