Summer Intern – Firmware Engineer, Hague Road Technical Center – Indianapolis, Indiana

As an Allegion Firmware Engineer, you will contribute meaningful work and make a direct impact to the Product Lifecycle Engineering team. You will gain valuable experience in defining requirements for firmware, designing and documenting firmware architecture, debugging, testing, and integration into a larger modular system. Additional opportunities include learning embedded systems programming, understanding firmware development for electronic locking systems, and residential IoT system design. You will also participate in peer reviews on designs.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in design, development, and testing of firmware
  • Participate in code reviews with your peers
  • Support the team in troubleshooting and resolving firmware related customer issues
  • Deepen your understanding in embedded systems and the use of development tools, such as debuggers and logic analyzers
  • Obtain the experience to create a foundation for growth and future opportunities with Allegion
  • Work with more experienced engineers to produce well-rounded solutions

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Pursuing a degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative, e.g., school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, leadership on school or work projects, etc.
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems and electronics, including C programming
  • Ability to work in both a team and individual setting
  • Effective communication, time management, and creative problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Sophomore year must be complete by the start of the summer internship program for undergraduate candidates
  • Minimum 3.0 on 4.0 GPA scale
  • A desire to learn, grow, and develop by working on projects that will impact Allegion’s business and customers
