Under the supervision of a radiologist, the Lead CT Technologist performs Computerized Tomographic (CT) examinations on patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Ensures the production of quality imaging and prepares pertinent patient information for physician and care team's review. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Assists department management with administrative, quality assurance/control and leadership duties as assigned, including training, scheduling, quality assurance and mentoring staff CT Technologists, and may act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of a regular supervisor.

Summary

Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Job Duties
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement)
  • Operates CT scanners to produce radiographs according to departmental procedures; ensures the quality of pictures are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensures accurate positioning and proper preparation for patients during scanning procedures; conducts timely adjustments of patient position and/or medical dosages according to anatomical circumstances and other technical factors.
  • Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection during the imaging process.
  • Maintains CT Scanning equipment by performing scheduled cleaning, testing and documenting results. Primary liaison with equipment service personnel on repair and corrections.
  • Assists with scheduling to ensure proper coverage and other administrative needs for maintaining efficient department operations.
  • Provides technical and general guidance over CT technical staff, including reinforcement of adherence to department procedure and confidentiality guidelines. Assists Supervisor with the evaluation of workloads and training and development.
  • Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R).
  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PAC’s systems
  • IV Certification
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
  • CT - Computed Tomography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
