Pvotal is a startup working on improving various industries through innovative technologies. We’re redefining the way enterprise infrastructure and applications are imagined, built, managed, secured and matured. Our team is small, fast, and efficient and we are looking to add highly motivated individuals to join us!

Position:

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Go and cloud internals to enhance the foundational platform that powers Infrastream. Unlike traditional roles, you will move beyond config management to enhance a Graph-Native Infrastructure Engine. You will partner closely with other platform engineers to replace Terraform workflows with secure, automated Go services that scale with our customers' most complex enterprise needs. In this role, you will focus on scalability, reliability, security, and developer enablement, ensuring our infrastructure and tooling are resilient, automated, and easy to use.

Platform Engineers sit at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and software engineering, partnering closely with product, security, and development teams to build and operate platforms that scale with the business and support long-term operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Golang and advanced coroutine development
  • 4+ years in container development, debugging, automation
  • Passionate about developer experience and making platforms seamless for internal and external customers
  • "A believer that Infrastructure is Software, not Configuration. You prefer structs and types over YAML and HCL."

General Responsibilities:

  • Build the "Terraform Alternative" Engine: Design high-performance Go reconcilers that interact directly with cloud APIs to provision and mutate resources without HCL.
  • Spanner Graph Architecture: Model complex infrastructure relationships (dependencies, IAM hierarchy, network flows) using Spanner’s Graph capabilities for sub-second state queries.
  • State & Concurrency: Solve distributed locking and state-drift challenges using advanced Go concurrency patterns (Channels/Goroutines) to ensure the Spanner Graph always matches GCP reality.
  • Troubleshoot, tune performance, and coordinate upgrades and lifecycle tasks
  • Architect secure systems and integrate security patterns.

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience with cloud platforms is required, with a strong preference for Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure is also valuable and demonstrates solid cloud fundamentals.
  • Go Mastery: Deep experience with Go 1.20+ (Generics, complex concurrency) for building distributed systems, not just simple APIs.
  • Database Depth: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Spanner (specifically Graph or interleaved tables) or similar distributed SQL engines.
  • GCP Native: Ability to navigate raw GCP RPCs (Compute, Network, IAM) via SDKs, understanding the underlying resources rather than relying on high-level abstractions.
  • Graph Thinking: Understanding of graph theory/algorithms (DAGs, traversal) to manage dependency trees and blast-radius calculation.

Soft Skills:

  • Deep understanding of security concepts and tools
  • Excellent communication skills adapted for a remote work environment
  • Since we work remotely, a high degree of ownership and responsibility is also required

Benefits:

  • Fully remote work
  • Equity options
