Leominster Animal Hospital is actively looking for a Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate would be compassionate and possess a positive and motivating attitude. We strive to practice collaborative team medicine and value our dedicated staff.

The Kennel Assistant would provide assistance to the technicians, focusing heavily on cleaning/organizing tasks. The assistant would be responsible for cleaning cages, exam rooms, laundry, organizing and restocking supplies. We would be happy to help teach the right candidate to also assist with appointments and handle patients, as they learn on the job.

Please submit your availability with your application. We are currently looking for part time, 3pm-6pm during the week and occasional Saturdays 8a-1pm.

Requirements:

  • Education in Veterinary Assisting is preferred
  • Desire to learn and utilize animal handling skills and restraint
  • Positive team player willing to continue to expand their knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to handle a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of care
  • Ability and Willingness to maintain a clean hospital environment (cleaning cages, animal dishes, vacuuming and mopping of hospital, organizing and stocking exam rooms)

A little about Leominster Animal Hospital,

We are a thriving small animal GP, seeing canines and felines. We currently have three full time doctors, usually with 2 working each day. Most of our support staff prefer to work four 10-hour shifts each week (8am to 6pm) to help with work-life balance, however we are looking for a part time employee for mainly 3-6pm shifts.

We mainly see wellness and diagnostic appointments every 30 minutes and each doctor does have a dedicated surgery day during the week where we see routine surgeries, dental prophylaxis and oral surgery, mass removals etc.

We pride ourselves on educating clients and providing the best medicine possible, while ensuring that our patient’s visit is as stress free as possible.

Our hospital currently utilizes Avimark for PIMS. Idexx for in house and reference lab.
