This role will be the Chapter Lead Data Engineering within CDAO and align to the Home Buying domain. With proven expertise in leading and managing teams in data engineering, you will hold a passion for providing data-driven solutions; you are ahead of trends and work at the forefront of Big Data technologies.

In CDAO we are responsible for CommBank’s key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for analytics, information management and decisioning. We work across the Teradata Group Data Warehouse, Hadoop Big Data Platform, Analytics Workbench for Machine Learning, Pega Decisioning, SAS, R, Tableau, Oracle BI, Ab Initio.

As Chapter Lead you will;

  • Manage a team of Data and Quality Engineers and assisting the team with goal setting, performance, career development and engagement
  • Nurture a positive engineering culture and foster an environment of continuous improvement
  • Ensure adherence to standards and technical quality. Guide complex technical problem solving
  • Build, lead and inspire an engaged team of Engineers
  • Empower the team to manage their work effectively, respond to queries, address impediments and problem solve technical issues
  • Provide effective coaching to Engineers and establish mechanisms for peer-to-peer learning and mentoring
  • Understand how to foster and lead diverse teams
  • Role model a culture of engineering empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge
  • Understand unique skill sets of team members, providing personalised feedback and guidance
  • Communicate to senior management and key stakeholders to ensure clear path to execution
  • Communicate Engineering Practice standards and consistent ways of working across the domain and CBA that align to industry standards
  • Allocate time for code review, refactoring and tech debt elimination over feature delivery

  • Hands On experience in Hadoop/HDFS, Teradata, Scala/Java/Python, Unix/Bash Scripting, SQL (HiveQL), Job Orchestration (Airflow, Autosys, etc.), Spark, Kafka streaming data, Ab Initio , AWS Cloud.
  • Experience in CI/CD process like GitHub, Jenkins, Team city, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Datawarehouse concepts like Slowly Changing Dimensions and Change Data Capture
  • Strong knowledge of testing strategies, test environment setup, test data management and test automation tools
  • Solution design experience, providing advice on solution option and adapting the best solution to meet business and technical objectives
  • Worked in SDLC model, agile and ITIL Service management environments.
