Job Description:

This Senior Industrial Designer will join our Innovation Team within Pentair Pool RD&E. They will be responsible for working cross-divisionally, supporting the design of innovative and differentiated product solutions and customer experiences. Broad exploration of ideas and concepts will be encouraged to help lay the foundation for current and future product launches. A successful candidate would possess a high degree of innovation and creativity and be prepared to lead all aspects of the concept development and experience design process. Work will include design research, innovation strategy, product & experience design, prototyping, user testing, collaborating with varied disciplines, and supporting products through commercialization.

What you will do:

• Lead the industrial design process from concept development through product commercialization
• Collaborate with UX designers to define interaction and usability goals
• Partner with internal clients to craft concept development strategies and project plans
• Leverage user insights to develop compelling problem statements and set design objectives
• Advocate for design best practices while engaging with internal development teams
• Create visual assets and physical prototypes for use in user testing and feedback sessions
• Continued refinement and implementation of Ecolab’s visual brand language
• Effectively convey ideas, design concepts and prototypes to development teams and stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate technical feasibility and commercialization approach

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or Mechanical Engineering
• Five plus years professional design and/or engineering experience
• Experience in rapid visualization methods such as hand sketching and concept model making
• Experience working with CAD modeling software including advanced surfacing techniques
• Experience in design work covering all aspects of concept development
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project management experience
• Familiarity with design thinking, experience design, and service design
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative user research and testing techniques
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Sketchbook Pro, and the Adobe CS Suite
• Experience in aesthetic product design and visual brand language development
• General manufacturing knowledge with an emphasis on plastic molding
• UX/UI experience including task analysis, wireframing, and screen layout/design
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team while managing multiple tasks and/or projects
• Effective oral communication skills, organizational skills, and high attention to detail
